Cosmic Chord Sets are the perfect solution for those of you who would like more than one crystal singing bowl but less than a full 7 bowl Chakra Set. We can supply Cosmic Chords that use either 2 or 3 bowls. The benefit of buying a Cosmic Chord Set is that your bowls can be matched together to sound the most harmonious. Since only about 1 in every 100 crystal bowls is perfect pitch, this leaves most bowls on either the musically sharp or flat side of what their labeled note is. So if you get 2 or 3 at the same time, we can, for example, make them all about the same degree of sharpness. What our ears are listening for is a pleasing harmony. If the intervals between the vibrational frequencies of the bowls are balanced, then the sound will be sweet.. When you order a Cosmic Chord Set, we choose bowls with the correct, balanced interval to produce a good sound when the bowls are played together.
Quite often, people call who have one crystal bowl and they want to get another bowl that will sound good with it. This is not easy to do, because even if they know the note of the bowl, most have no way of determining how sharp or flat the note of that bowl is. Getting your bowls at the same time prevents this problem. In fact, we often match bowls for two different customers who want to get together to play their crystal bowls. If they purchase their bowls at the same time, the sound will be harmonious. Without going into music theory here, let's just say that there are some notes that sound good together and others that don't. For example, if you play 2 bowls that have notes that are letters that are next to each other in the alphabet, it will sound gross - like when you mash down two piano keys next to each other to play "Chopsticks". So you would not want to be playing a C with a D, or an E with an F. Here are some combinations of bowls that we almost always have in stock that sound great together and create a Cosmic Chord with 2 notes: Choices for Cosmic Chord of D and G: 11,12 or 14 inch Frosted D and 10 inch Frosted G 11, 12 or14 inch Frosted D and 16 inch Frosted G 18 inch Frosted D and 10 inch Frosted G
18 inch Frosted D and 16 inch Frosted G
Choices for Cosmic Chord of C and G: 14 inch Frosted C and 10 inch Frosted G 14 inch Frosted C and 16 inch Frosted G 11 or 12 inch Frosted C and 10 inch Frosted G 11 or 12 inch Frosted C and 16 inch Frosted G
Choices for Cosmic Chord of A and E: 10 inch Frosted A and 11 or 12 inch Frosted E 16 inch Frosted A and 11 or 12 inch Frosted E 16 inch Frosted A and 18 inch Frosted E
Choices for Cosmic Chord of A and D: 10 inch Frosted A and 11 or 12 inch Frosted D 16 inch Frosted A and 11 or 12 inch Frosted D 11 or 12 inch Frosted D# and 8 inch Frosted A#
Choices for 3 Bowl Cosmic Chord of C, E and G: 14 inch Frosted C, 11 or 12 inch E, 10 inch Frosted G 11 or 12 inch C, 11 or 12 inch E, 10 inch Frosted G 14 inch Frosted C, 11 or 12 inch E, 16 inch Frosted G 8 inch Frosted C, 11 or 12 inch E, 10 inch Frosted G
This might look like a lot of choices, but we are talking about only 5 Cosmic Chords here. They all sound terrific. Which one you get can have a lot to do with your budget, the space where you will be using them, and how low a sound you like. Remember that a bigger bowl in the same note will have a deeper sound than a smaller bowl in the same note. Example: If you like more resonance, consider a 16 inch instead of a 10 inch. If you want to spend less, consider a 10 inch instead of a 16 inch! They truly are all fabulous. One of my favorites is 16 A and 11 or 12 D or E. There is no big reason for this except that they makes my ears and chakras happy!
